Title: Isaiah 53:4-5

Medium: Ballpoint Pen

Dimension: 9.9x8.1”

Copyright: 1996

Produced in Ironwood State Prison in 1996. In 2002 I digitized it so I could make some changes to it.  In the original, the ink wasn’t as black as I would have liked it to be also I added a border and put the Scripture verse on the bottom.  It’s a very radical piece, and yet as bloody and beaten as He is, what our Lord went through was far worse.  When I first produced this piece, I had some people tell me that it was evil to see the sins of the world pouring down upon Jesus,  but isn’t that what he did, die for the sins of the world!  Far worse than the physical pain was the pain of being separated from His Father in heaven.

Thank You Jesus, Amen

Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our inequities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  Isaiah 53:4-5
